Why We Protest
Against AudioRiver in the Health Park
In 2024, Łódź is to host the renowned Audioriver Festival, an event valued by fans of electronic music. Although we appreciate its cultural significance, as Green Heart of Health, we strongly oppose the chosen location - the Health Park, adjacent to the zoo. It is also not true that we had an influence on the four locations included in the contract with ŁCW. They were chosen without public consultation and were secret. In fact, we filed formal requests to disclose these locations.
AUDIORIVER PROTEST - Our concerns:
Environmental issues: A three-day event, including concerts on multiple stages, sanitary facilities, catering, and a tent city for 30,000 people, will undoubtedly cause significant degradation of the natural environment of the park. We are also concerned about the impact of the festival on the wild fauna and animals in the nearby ZOO.
Historical issues: The planned festival location is on a site of significant historical importance, near the Monument of Revolutionary Deed and Independence Hill - sites commemorating the victims of the 1905 Revolution and the independence struggles.
Civic and participatory issues: The decision to locate the commercial festival was made by the Łódź authorities without consulting the residents and environmental protection experts. Why was their voice not considered?
AUDIORIVER PROTEST - Our demands:
We do not agree to close a significant part of the park and limit access to it for the residents of Łódź. The Health Park is too valuable in terms of nature, history, and society to become the exclusive domain of a paid festival.
On behalf of those who signed this petition, we demand a change of location for the Audioriver Festival.
